William McKenzie "Mack" Morris, aged 86, of Batesville, Mississippi, passed away on February 8, 2026, in Oxford, MS. Born on July 22, 1939, in Pope, Mississippi, Mack lived a life characterized by service, dedication, and deep-rooted love for both his family and community.

A memorial gathering will be from 12:30 - 2:00 P.M. Saturday, February 14, 2026, in the Fellowship Hall of Pope Baptist Church.

Mack had a distinguished career as a Retired Panola County Sheriff Deputy, where his commitment to public service was evident in the many lives he touched during his tenure. Alongside his loving wife, Doris S. Morris, he was also the former owner of two Fred's Stores located in Crossett, AR, and Batesville, AR, as well as M & M Dollar in Batesville, MS. This entrepreneurial spirit reflected his desire to contribute positively to the community.

As a devoted member of Pope Baptist Church and Liberty Hill Baptist Church throughout his youth, Mack's faith was central to his life. He cherished his relationship with the Lord and embodied the principles of kindness and generosity that are hallmarks of a faithful life. In his leisure time, he found joy in working on his farm and tending to his cattle. Golf was a passion in his earlier years, and his enjoyment of sports continued as he found pleasure in watching games on television.

Mack was a family man at heart. He is survived by his beloved wife, Doris; his sons, William M. Morris, II and Ret. MSGT Michael A. Morris (Renda), both of Batesville, MS; his siblings, Norma Gordon of Collierville, TN, Marilyn Franks of Pope, MS, and Thomas Morris of Pope, MS; along with three grandchildren, William Morris of Daphane, AL, Cameron Bruce Morris of Brooklyn, TX, and Melanie Gilley of Batesville, MS; and eleven great-grandchildren who brought him immeasurable joy.

Mack was preceded in death by his parents, William Monroe and Sally Mary Clarkson Morris, and his brother, J.C. Morris. His legacy is one of love, strength, and community service, and he will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of knowing him.
